Our Purpose

Founded in 2006, The Arizona Skeptical Society (AZSS) was created in the ever-expanding background noise of homeopathy, UFO-Alien fantasies, consipracy theorists, creationists, Intelligent Design proponents, astrologers, reflexologists, alternative medicine believers, and on, and on, and on.  Our purpose is to promote critical scientific thinking throug web-based education, events, speakers, and through associations with other scientific and skeptical organizations.

Evolution and science behind Natural Selection pla critical roles in our message to our community.

Skeptical Vision

Science literally sets humanity free.  Our ability to differentiate fact from fiction transforms our perception of the world, and to a great degree, determines how we evolve.  Skepticism isn't about being pessimistic about the universe, nor is it about constant "nay-saying" about hypotheses.  To the contrary, science simply supports those hypotheses that reveal repeatable evidence.  Gaining consensus amongst the scientific community and testing claims against these ideas is what skepticism is all about.  The Arizona Skeptical Society's Vision is to help those people who find pseudoscience almost believable - and support their own critical thinking skills.

Our Mission

Our mission is to further promote the interests of our organization and our members to the community. We strive to make a difference by educating the public and expanding our reach.
